This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Becky DeVore who was born in Michigan on January 06, 1985 and passed away on April 19, 2003 at the age of 18. We will remember her forever. She is still in all of our hearts and minds everyday. We miss you so much. Becky chose to take her own life out of despair and a series of terrible events. We never know what a child is thinking and what seems to be the normal ups and downs of everyday life can seem like the end of the world to sensitive child or a teenager in distress. To everyone Becky was an Angel whose wings were too fragile for this world. Her death changed so many lives. All of us feel blessed to have been a part of her short life.
This web site is here for all to share photos and personal memories of Becky.
Please feel free to browse the site and light a candle with a few words. Please send pictures to me if you would like to put them on the site. Please let everyone know that the site is up.
Becky's family continues to struggle with this terrible event and warns that any family could be stricken by the horrible tragedy of suicide. The family would like teenagers to know that they should never try to help a suicidal friend or take that responsibility on themselves. Many teenagers feel that they have the capacity to help and deal with a suicidal friend. This usually turns out very badly for both. They should leave this to a mental health care professional. The best thing to do is report your concerns to person like parents, school staff, or even the police should you suspect a friend is suicidal.
If you would like to know more about Becky’s story to help understand and maybe prevent a suicide in your own family please email us. Many of the signs are so small you would never think something was wrong.
Parents and families should know that suicide has surpassed homicide in the USA and is now the #2 cause of death for children between ages 12 to 25.
